bobbi gets all politicalie

oh sarah! i saw your acceptance speech - you're so bold, so fierce, so snotty.

...which is to say, i love you! and lets be friends, please.

BUT

-thanks be given to faye for the forward!
did palin really answer the economic-crisis-topical question posed at the first debate with an (approximate) "at the next soccer game, ask the mom next to you what they think about it. i bet they have some concerns?" she did.
and questions requiring specific answers were thrown back with a (again, wildly approximately): "we're mavericks and we'll do what we need to do to get it done!" point is, tina wasn't much off.
which stems from this wonderful tidbit by my lovely, favorite, tina fey, on snl. ah, the Funny.

ice's fault and i do mind

falling down can be fun. funny.
mostly, though, it's not.
this past week has brought me two solid diggers.
matt! weren't we just talking about this at HH two weeks ago?!?!? can you say jinx? yes he can.

i was ice fishing near st peter 2 saturdays ago with andy, brian and lora. we didn't have an ice house, so, without red carpet laid out nicely, the only thing between my feets and a frozen lake was nothing. not remembering that, lora was the first to biff. hard.

after switching lakes and switching empty cocktails
out for full ones several times, I forgot that i was parading around on ice.
ice, being slick, is slippery. after 1 quick attempt to regain balance, down i went. the bruise on the left hip is still not done spreading in width and morphing into an interesting shade of dark dark dark puke green. the hole in my right hand has scabbed nicely, however!

wednesday i met up with joe to reminisce about the joys (loathes) of law school. after a delicious dinner, we figured a night cap at a different establishment seemed appropriate. we parked the vehicle near the curb, street side. i thought it best to hop the snowbank onto the clear, safe sidewalk on the other side of this slippery jaded mound. off i took .... before i knew i was even falling at all, all wind was out of my lungs and my thoughts went straight to (after a quick assessment of whether or not paralysis had suddenly set in) the fact that i have no health insurance, and this situation likely would benefit from ownership over it. a martini helped. 2 days of living through it and sucking it up (along with a daily doses of 2200mg ibuprofen) helped. my whining did not, but, yet, i did it.

40 degrees last weekend!!! yippers :)

empty messages: part, the two

thanks for thinking of me! (again)
BUT, if there wasn't a question or statement worth comment offered up in your text to me, you'll likely get a response containing a lot of nothing. i've gotten a few of them lately, and i'm just like, even if i wanted to, how do i respond to that? but since i'm like, i don't want to respond to that, i don't. something bland to do with how cold they are OR there's no bread in the house OR they rented a bad movie. sooooo? and??? boring!

another favorite? the "happy holidays!" text. while i appreciate it and thank you for thinking of me on such a special day, when you get 32 of them in one afternoon it starts to become quite overwhelming to think of returning em all. so i don't, i won't. if you feel the need to continue to send these sorts of messages, just know this ... i thank you tons & i love you lots & Ditto (whatever the greeting)!!!

i'm just the sort that likes information to be shared in these communications, whether it be just a humorous bit OR waaay vital news/direction/gossip. if you think they're good, keep em coming!

of course it is!

oh boy - i was just reminded of this lil pet peeve & now you shall be notified of it at this late late hour to be at work on a friday (when i still have 1 hour and 20 minutes to go ... sigh).
i am in hate of people that say 'it's always the last place you look' - umm ... yeah! why the hell would i keep looking for it after i've found it?
-peace out on this fine, fine day.

pesky neighbors

so at 2:10 i check the phone to see at what awful hour some folks in the next building decide to have a heart to heart. 2:10.
"don't you think it hurts me to come home after working 13 hours and you run the other way? you should be excited and happy to see me!!!!!" first of all: wha??? shut up! i'm trying to sleep! secondly, with the strength of her scream and imagining the look on her face, buddy, i'da ran, too.
don't they know that this is a classy and sophisticated neighborhood? wait ... rereading my last blog i'll go another direction with my analysis.
classy (and graceful) people make mistakes. all's forgiven. let's move on.

take off my wha?

it's the worst. simply the Worst, after entering the front door seeing 17 pairs of shoes lined (piled) up OR the folks you are with begin bending down to remove theirs OR the ever so polite words 'would you please remove your shoes' ... Really?
preface: if it's rainy/muddy/slushy/snowy i'll be the first in line to shed the lil trackers.
BUT if the case is not that ... Really?
if you bought white carpet, hint #one: don't buy white carpet - it is to be Walked on afterall ... cause it goes on the floor, ya.
so what? are the bottoms of feet cleaner than the shoe? that's a gamble.
-there are sometimes embarrassing holes in socks, blisters, bunyons, warts, chipped polish etc that folks don't want to show off.
my feet'll get cold - trust me.
my shoes are much more comfortable - trust me.
if this is a failed attempt to appear pristine and proper, good luck cause never before has there been a floor upon which i've walked barefoot where i ain't stepped on Something that stuck. i'm not making your floor dirty with my shoes, you're making my feet yickity by forcing em off'a me.

empty messages

the voicemails have Got to stop! if you have something to say, great - but Please do not leave a message saying "hey it's me. call me back." or worse - the quoted prior phrase being the jist of a lengthy and noninformative soliloquy. this is a waste of your time leaving the thing and mine having to listen to the thing. i already see that you've called and that is really message enough.
